Fetal presentation describes the part of the fetus that is positioned lowest in the uterus and is expected to enter the birth canal first.
Common presentations include cephalic, in which the head is lowest, and breech, in which the buttocks or feet are lowest. A transverse or shoulder presentation occurs when the fetus lies sideways and no appropriate presenting part is positioned toward the birth canal.
