Organized by IASP with WHO support since 2003, this day promotes global commitment to suicide prevention through awareness, education, and stigma reduction.

The theme calls for shifting public and media conversation around suicide — from silence and stigma toward openness, compassion, and hope — and encourages safe messaging practices in reporting and everyday conversation.
