Campaign Description

Led by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control since 2007, this day marks Louis Pasteur's death and promotes rabies prevention, especially through mass dog vaccination and improved post-exposure care.


Theme Focus

The 2026 theme, "Stronger Together," emphasizes that eliminating rabies requires collaboration across human health, animal health, veterinary services, governments, communities, and international organizations. It highlights the importance of strengthening partnerships, improving communication and surveillance, expanding dog vaccination and access to life-saving treatment, and working collectively through the One Health approach to achieve the global goal of Zero human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030.
