Prostate Cancer Awareness Month is an annual campaign that encourages men to learn about prostate health, understand their individual risk factors, discuss screening options with healthcare providers, recognize potential symptoms, and seek timely diagnosis and treatment when necessary.

The 2026 theme focuses on raising awareness of prostate cancer risk and early detection while recognizing the importance of supportive, informed partnerships throughout diagnosis, treatment, recovery and survivorship.

• Know your risk: risk varies with factors such as age, family history and inherited genetic changes.
• Understand screening and early detection: encourage informed conversations with healthcare professionals about whether and when testing is appropriate rather than presenting screening as one-size-fits-all.
• Recognise that early prostate cancer may have no symptoms: absence of symptoms does not necessarily mean absence of disease.
• Support informed treatment decisions: men diagnosed with prostate cancer may have different treatment or monitoring options depending on their cancer and circumstances.
• Include partners and families: prostate cancer can affect relationships, emotional wellbeing, practical life and recovery as well as physical health.
• Support survivorship and quality of life: care should continue beyond the initial diagnosis and treatment.
