Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures

Campaign Description

Coordinated by FIP (International Pharmaceutical Federation, universally known as FIP (from its original French name, Fédération Internationale Pharmaceutique)) since 2009, this day recognizes the expanding role of pharmacists as accessible healthcare providers involved in medication management, vaccination, screening, and patient education.

Theme Focus

The 2026 theme focuses on giving pharmacists the systemic tools, clinical authority, and regulatory support they need to relieve pressured healthcare systems and improve global patient outcomes.

Key Priorities

  • Safe and effective medicine use: pharmacists help people use medicines appropriately and safely.
  • Access to care: highlight the role of pharmacists in making health services and medicines more accessible.

  • Patient-centred care: emphasise counselling, medication review and medicines optimisation.
  • A stronger pharmacy workforce: support appropriate education, skills, recognition and working environments.
  • Integration into health systems: recognise pharmacists as part of multidisciplinary healthcare rather than focusing only on dispensing medicines.
