Fibrous Tissue

Fibrous tissue is connective tissue that contains large amounts of collagen fibers and provides strength and structural support to the body. It also contains varying proportions of elastic fibers, cells, and extracellular material.

Fibrous tissue is found throughout the body, including in tendons, ligaments, the deeper layers of the skin, and scar tissue. During healing, the body often produces fibrous tissue to repair damaged areas when normal tissue cannot be fully restored.
