Collagen is the body’s most abundant structural protein and provides strength and support to many tissues.
Collagen is found in the skin, bones, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, blood vessels, and many internal organs. During wound healing, new collagen is produced to repair damaged tissue and form scars.
As people age, collagen production gradually declines, contributing to thinner skin and the formation of wrinkles.
Quick Fact
There are at least 28 recognised types of collagen, although Types I, II, and III are the most abundant in the human body.
