May 25, 2026 Recurs yearly
World Thyroid Day, observed annually on 25 May, is a global health awareness campaign dedicated to increasing understanding of thyroid disorders, encouraging early recognition of symptoms, promoting timely diagnosis and treatment, and advocating for better thyroid care worldwide. Established in 2008 by the Thyroid Federation International and supported by international thyroid organizations, the day also forms part of International Thyroid Awareness Week.
The 2026 theme, "Thyroid and Nutrition," highlights the essential connection between nutrition and thyroid health. It emphasizes the importance of adequate intake of key nutrients, including iodine, selenium, iron, and zinc for healthy thyroid function, while promoting evidence-based dietary guidance to support the prevention, diagnosis, and management of thyroid disorders and improve overall well-being.
