A pimple is a common, non-medical term for a visible acne lesion, such as a papule or pustule.
Most people use “pimple” to describe a red or pus-filled spot on the skin. However, pimples are only one manifestation of acne, which can also include blackheads, whiteheads, nodules, and cysts.
Quick fact
A single pimple does not necessarily mean a person has acne.
