The skin is the body’s largest organ and forms a protective covering over the entire body.
The skin protects against injury, infection, dehydration, and harmful environmental exposures while helping regulate body temperature, producing vitamin D, and providing the senses of touch, pain, pressure, and temperature.
The skin consists of three main layers:
- Epidermis
- Dermis
- Hypodermis (Subcutaneous tissue)
Quick Fact
